Kansas City, Kans. -
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the 2007 adidas Women's Soccer All-Northeast Region teams this afternoon, with the Rams being well represented among the Northeast's best. Three Fordham players earned All-Region honors led by sophomore Courtney Fedge (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport), who was named First Team All-Northeast Region. Junior Kim Boulos (Croton, N.Y./Croton) earned Second Team All-Northeast, while freshman Katie McDermott (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) was named Third Team All-Northeast.
Fedge, a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection earlier this year, helped Fordham post a single season school record 0.84 goals against average this season, which included seven shutouts. Offensively, she posted two goals and three assists for seven points, and helped Fordham to the Atlantic 10 Championship game for the second straight season.
Boulos, a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection earlier this year, led the Rams with six goals this season, which all came in Atlantic 10 conference play. She posted two game-winning goals and 12 points, both good for second on the team. In the Atlantic 10 tournament, she recorded the winning tally, as Fordham advanced to the Championship game over Dayton on penalty kicks.
McDermott, an All-Rookie and Second Team All-Conference selection, stepped into the line-up immediately in her first season, playing in all 20 games, starting 19. She was the top freshman scorer on the Rams with four goals and two assists for ten points, while helping the Rams' defense record seven shutouts. She was also named to the All-Championship team at the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
The NSCAA's Northeast region encompasses 41 Division I schools, which includes schools in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. In the final team rankings released by the NSCAA, Fordham was tied for eighth by season's end.
