NEW YORK (AP) - Marcus Stout scored 21 points and Brenton Butler added 19 as Fordham defeated Columbia 79-61 in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

Bryant Dunston had four points in the 10-2 run that gave Fordham (1-0) a 12-4 lead less than 5 minutes into the game and the Rams never trailed.

Columbia closed within 14-11 midway through the first half but Dunston had seven points in a 17-1 run that made it 31-12 with 6:54 left in the half.

Dunston finished with 13 points, 11 in the first half.

John Baumann and Patrick Foley led the Lions with 13 points each and Mack Montgomery had 12.
