Water Polo Splits First Two Matches At Nothern Division Playoffs

Cambridge, Mass. - The Fordham water polo team, seeded sixth as the Northern Division Playoffs this weekend, looked to raise some more eyebrows on Saturday. The Rams came up short in their first match against Harvard, falling 13-10, but came back in the nightcap to trounce Queens College, 12-2.

The Rams will now play MIT in the fifth place game at 11:30 AM on Sunday.

In the opening game, Fordham hung right in the Harvard but took a three-goal loss.

For Fordham, Alex Powell led the offesne with three goals, while Ryan Hultman and Todd Conway each had two. Taylor Landesman, Brian Jucas and Andrew Dentinger round out the scoring for Fordham, while Paul Shrewsbury, Scott Nemecek, and Mark Connor each had a pair of assists. In net, Timmy Will made nine saves.

In the nightcap, Fordham took out their frustration from game one on Queens College with a 12-2 victory.

Nine different Rams scored in the game, led by Powell and Daniel Muñoz, who had two goals and an asssist, while Niko Filipi had two goals. Nemecek, Dentinger, and Landesman each had a goal and an assist, with Martin de Jong having two assists and a steal. In net, Will made 11 saves to go with a steal.
