Fordham Women's Soccer Clinches Second Place in A-10

Nov. 4, 2007

Box Score

Bronx, N.Y. - After playing to a tie in their first two games of the 2007 Atlantic 10 season, the Fordham University women's soccer squad thought their chances of earning a first round bye at the A-10 Championships were gone. But the Rams battled back, going 6-1-1 over their next eight conference games to put themselves in position to finish second and receive the bye, having only to win today at St. Bonaventure.

And win they did as Kim Boulos scored the game's only goal in the eighth minute to lead Fordham to a 1-0 win and a clinch of second place in the Atlantic 10. The Rams, who closed out the regular season with a 10-4-4 record, 7-1-3 in the conference, will enter this week's A-10 Championship as the two seed and will take on the winner of #4 Saint Louis and #5 Dayton on Friday night at 8:00 PM on Charlotte's Transamerica Field.

On the goal, Boulos took a feed from Courtney Fedge and got off a blast from 18 yards that beat the St. Bonaventure keeper to the top right corner for her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

The Rams out shot the Bonnies 20-7 as Elisabeth Roald made five saves in the Fordham net to record her second shutout of the season.

The Rams will next be in action on Friday as they compete at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship, facing the winner of the Saint Louis-Dayton match-up at 8:00 PM on Charlotte's Transamerica Field.
