Women's Basketball Hosts Iona on Saturday

Bronx, N.Y. - Two teams that are both looking to right their season meet will meet on Saturday, as Fordham takes on Iona for the 39th time, with Fordham leading the all-time series 23-15. Follow the action by clicking on the Listen and GameTracker links. In addition to the game, Fordham honor the 30th anniversary of the 1977-78 Eastern Regional Championship team at halftime.

A number of the 1977-78 team will be in attendance at the game, as well as other women's basketball and Fordham alumni. The 1977-78 team set a then team record with 25 wins, winning the AIAW New York State Tournament, the AIAW Eastern Satellite Tournament, and the AIAW Eastern Regional Tournament. Fordham was then invited to the AIAW Small College National Tournament, where they almost knocked off Pepperdine University (65-63) and Shorter College (92-78). The 25 wins still stands as the second most in Fordham women's basketball history.

The current Fordham Rams are in the middle of a three-game home stretch, after falling to Providence on Wednesday.

Iona has won three of the last four meetings, including last year's contest at the Hynes Center, 72-45.

Iona is 1-4 this season, and lost their last two games. On the floor, Iona is led by Lauren DeFalco, who is the Gaels' leader in scoring (12.0 ppg), and Thazina Cook, who is averaging 11.6 points and 7.6 rebounds a game. Despite averaging 27 turnovers over their first five games, they do have a +5.6 rebounding margin, averaging 47.6 rebounds as a team.
