Fordham Baseball Announces 2008 Schedule

Nov. 29, 2007

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham baseball head coach Nick Restaino announced the team's 2008 schedule today, as the Rams open their 148th season at Rose Hill.

The Rams will be competing for their fourth Atlantic 10 Championship tournament berth in the last five years, and improve on last year's run, which saw the team fall to Charlotte in the Atlantic 10 Championship game.

Fordham is scheduled to have 21 home games this season, which includes four Atlantic 10 weekend series at Houlihan Park.

Fordham opens the season at Wichita State for a three-game series, February 22-24, followed by a three-game set with UNC-Wilmington, February 29-March 2.

The Rams will then have their home opener on March 5th, as they host crosstown rival Manhattan College at Houlihan Park.

Fordham then returns to the road for a pair of doubleheaders against Fairleigh Dickinson in Petersburg, Virginia, and then have a road game at Virginia Tech on March 12th. It will be the first match-up between the two teams since they met for the 1998 Atlantic 10 Championship.

The Rams then begin a seven-game stretch at home, capped by their first conference series against St. Bonaventure, March 20-22.

The Rams will also host Atlantic 10 opponents George Washington (April 11-13), Charlotte (May 2-4), and Xavier (May 9-11) at Houlihan Park.

On the road in conference play, Fordham will meet Saint Louis (March 28-30), Saint Joseph's (April 4-6), La Salle (April 18-20), Temple (April 25-27), and Massachusetts (May 15-17).

The schedule then turns toward the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament, which will be held May 21-24 at Campbell's Field in Camden, N.J.

In non-league play, Fordham will renew rivalries with Fairfield, Marist, Stony Brook, New York Tech, Seton Hall, NJIT, Iona, Hofstra, and Rutgers. The Rams will also welcome back to schedule a longtime traditional doubleheader against Columbia, after a year hiatus.
