Following a three-game road trip in Florida, the Fordham women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the Rose Hill Gym tonight to begin a three-game homestand, as they meet the Providence Friars at 7:00 PM. Fordham is still looking for their first win of the season, after falling to Monmouth, 65-59, in the consolation game of the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament. In that game, Kyara Weekes, playing in just her second game, netted a team-high 17 points off the bench, while Annie Zopf scored 13 points and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Providence is 4-2 this season, and is currently in the middle of a five-game road trip. Most recently, they fell by one-point at Illinois, 60-59. The Friars are coached by Phil Seymore, who is in his third season with an overall record of 25-37. On the floor, Providence is led by Kendria Holmes, who is the Friars' leader in scoring (12.7 ppg) and assists (23). Emily Counroyer is chipping in close to ten points a contest (9.7) and shooting 53% from the field.
Providence took the lead in the all-time series history with Fordham last season, 6-5, as they snuck out a 53-52 win at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
