Fordham's Christi Griffiths and Kailee May Earn All-Atlantic 10 Accolades

Nov. 15, 2007

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the 2007 Volleyball All-Conference teams and award winners this afternoon, with the Rams being well represented among the Atlantic 10's best. The Rams had two players receive awards, as freshman Christi Griffiths (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10, while both Griffiths and fellow freshman Kailee May (Damascus, Md./Damascus) earned All-Rookie team honors.

Griffiths, a three-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, set Fordham freshman highs with 435 kills, a 3.48 kills per game average, a .318 hitting percentage, and 131 total blocks. She was the first Fordham freshman to record over 400 kills and 100 total blocks in the same season. Currently, her 435 kills rank as the fourth best mark in team history, while she is just the third Ram to finish with a hitting percentage over .300.

May, one of the Rams' starting outside hitters, ranked second on the team with 313 kills and a 3.04 kills per game average. She was third on the team with 261 digs, and fourth in aces with 20. She also recorded 10 double-doubles this season.

Griffiths, May, and the rest of the Rams are seeded fifth at this week's Atlantic 10 Championship, which begin play on Friday, November 16th, as they will meet fourth seeded Temple at 7:30 PM in Charlotte, N.C.
