Three Rams Earn All-Atlantic 10 Honors For Men's Soccer

Nov. 14, 2007

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the 2007 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams today, as voted upon by the conference's head coaches. Fordham had three representatives on the All-Conference teams, as junior John Pardini (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown) was named First Team All-Atlantic 10, while senior Kevin Meyer (South Windsor, Conn./East Catholic) earned Second Team honors. In a vote of the conference sports information directors, defender Einar Oddsson (Reyjavik, Iceland) was selected to the All-Academic team.

Pardini, an A-10 Honorable mention selection a year ago, had another outstanding season at defender, starting all 18 games, helping the Rams' defense to five shutouts and a 1.34 goals against average. He also found the stat sheet offensively, posting a goal and an assist. Pardini's goal was arguably the biggest of the season for Fordham, as it was the game-winner against Richmond in the season finale, which gave Fordham a berth at this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Meyer picks up Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors for the second straight season. For the third staright season, the captain led the team in scoring, posting four goals and three assists for 11 points in 17 games. He earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors once during the season, after recording the first hat trick of his career.

Oddsson, a graduate student from Iceland, was also a part of the Rams' defensive backfield. An Economics major, he started all 16 games he appeared in, posting two goals and an assist for five points. He notched one game-winning goal this season, which came against Dayton.

This trio will lead Fordham into the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship this week, November 15-18, at Dayton's Baujan Field. The Rams (6-9-3, 5-4) enter the tournament as the fifth seed, and will meet fourth seeded Charlotte at 5:30 PM on Thursday.
