Bronx, N.Y. -
Fordham University head men's basketball coach Dereck Whittenburg announced today that sophomore guard David Boykin has left the team effective immediately.
"David Boykin has asked for and received his release so that he may transfer to another school," said Whittenburg. "We have arranged for him to keep his scholarship at Fordham through the end of the academic year if he chooses to stay until then. David was a great addition to the program, both on and off the court, and we wish him all the best in his search for another school."
Boykin appeared in 18 games as a freshman, averaging 0.9 ppg and 0.2 rpg. His best game came against Duquesne when he scored a season-high eight points in a Fordham win.
