Bronx, N.Y. - After a two week layoff, the Fordham water polo team hosted their first of three home games this season against the University of Toronto. The Rams gave those in attendance plenty to cheer about with an 11-5 win at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
Fordham opened the game with a 4-2 lead after one period, as Todd Conway netted two of Fordham's four goals.
The Rams increased their lead to 6-2 by halftime, as Alex Powell scored his second goal of the game, along with Taylor Landesman tallying his first of the match.
Despite Toronto scoring three times in the third, Fordham increased their lead to 10-5, as Powell, Landesman, Paul Shrewsbury, and Daniel Muñoz each scored in the period.
Fordham's Brian Jucas scored the only goal of the final period, as the Rams closed out an 11-5 victory.
For Fordham, Alex Powell netted three goals to lead the offense, while Taylor Landesman had two goals and two assists. Todd Conway also had two goals to go with an assist, with Paul Shrewsbury adding a goal and two helpers. In net, Timmy Will and Tom Conroy split time in net, as Will made one save, and Conroy had two saves and a steal.
For Toronto, Tyler Robinson made four saves in net, while offensively, Sean McGhie had three goals with Max Pottier and Djurdjevik each having one.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Thursday, October 11th, as they being conference play at home with a match against Queens College at 7:30 PM.
