Bronx, N.Y. -
The season never ends for the Fordham University Varsity Cheerleading team. The team performs at all football and men's and women's basketball games. Between games, they also find time to perform at various Fordham events, volunteer for the Special Olympics and assist local cheerleading teams.
The team practices three nights a week (with a stronger concentration before competition) and is required to do one hour twice a week in the varsity weight room on non-practice days. The team travels to the men's and women's basketball Atlantic 10 Tournament and attends away games for the football season. These athletes have also made appearances at various events including: Bette Midler's New York Restoration "Hulaween" Benefit Gala Performer, the televised Revlon Run/Walkathon in Central Park and ABC's "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire." They were also the focus of various articles for the About.com Cheerleading Site and American Cheerleader magazine.
The team has placed in various cheerleading competitions and is a driving force in the northeast collegiate cheerleading circuit. This past year, they placed 13th in the nation beating out major schools such as Syracuse University, the University of Nevada and A-10 rival Duquesne University. For the past four years the team has been awarded "Most Collegiate" at the Universal Cheerleaders Association college camp, where they were up against 25 other Universities. We expect great things in the 2007-2008 season!
