Philadelphia, Pa. -
Fordham University freshman Katie McDermott (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 21st. This is McDermott's first career Atlantic 10 honor.
McDermott set a season-high with five points at Rhode Island on Sunday. She notched her first two-goal game and added an assist in a 4-0 win for Fordham over Rhode Island. Defensively, she helped Fordham post their sixth shutout of the season, and have not allowed more than two goals in 19 straight games, dating back to last season.
Overall, McDermott ranks third on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists, and is the top scoring freshman.
McDermott and the rest of the Fordham women's soccer team (7-4-3, 4-1-2 Atlantic 10) will next be in action this weekend, as they host Xavier University at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 26th, and then conclude their home schedule with a match-up against the University of Dayton at noon on Sunday, October 28th.
