Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University freshman Christi Griffiths (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 21st. This is Griffiths' third Atlantic 10 honor of the season, becoming the first Ram to receive the award more than twice for volleyball.

Griffiths had another outstanding week for Fordham, hitting .387, while averaging 4.43 kills and 0.71 blocks per game in two matches. She opened the week by hitting .469 with 18 kills and four blocks against Temple on Friday. She then recorded 13 kills and a .300 hitting percentage against La Salle.

Overall, Griffiths leads the Rams with a .322 hitting percentage, a 3.54 kills per game average, and a 1.11 blocking average. She has also become the first Fordham freshman to record over 350 kills and 100 total blocks in a season.

Griffiths and the rest of the Fordham volleyball team (11-16, 3-5 Atlantic 10) will next be in action on Saturday, October 27th, as they host Atlantic 10 opponent, the University of Rhode Island, beginning at 2:00 PM.
