(October 2, 2007) - Fordham University head women's basketball coach Cathy Andruzzi has announced the 2007-08 schedule. The 29 games scheduled which includes 15 home games is highlighted by two tournaments, three doubleheaders with the Fordham men's team, four games against Atlantic Coast Conference and Big East Conference teams, two games against NCAA Sweet Sixteen teams and a televised game against Duquesne at the Rose Hill Gym.
Fordham's regular season opens on the road with the annual Battle of the Bronx against Manhattan College on Sunday, November 11th at Draddy Gymansium.
The Rams will then have their home opener on Wednesday, November 14th, as they host Marist College, one of two NCAA Sweet Sixteen teams on the schedule.
After a home game against Lehigh, Fordham embarks on a road trip to the Sunshine State for a game at Florida State on November 20th. The Rams then participate in the University of Miami Thanksgiving Tournament on November 23-24, where they will play Miami and then either Butler or Monmouth.
Fordham then begins a three-game home stand with two of those opponents coming from the Big East. Fordham will meet Providence on November 28th, Iona on December 1st, and Georgetown on December 6th. In addition, on December 1st, Fordham will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the AIAW Eastern Regional Championship Team.
After two roads contest against American and George Mason, Fordham will host their first Holiday Tournament at the Rose Hill Gym, December 29-30. This will be the first regular season tournament Fordham has hosted since 1990. Fordham will play Mount St. Mary's in the opening game of the tournament, followed by Troy against Fairfield.
The Rams then close out the non-conference schedule with a game at Navy on January 2nd and one at home against Longwood on January 5th.
Fordham then begins Atlantic 10 Conference play, where the Rams will have three basketball doubleheaders and one televised game on the slate.
Fordham hosts Saint Louis on January 12th, followed by the first of three trips to Philadelphia to meet Saint Joseph's on January 16th.
The Rams will have the first of three doubleheaders with the Fordham Men's Basketball team on January 19th, as they face La Salle. The other doubleheaders will take place on February 23rd at Temple and February 27th against Charlotte.
Fordham will also be featured on CSTV this season, as the Rams host Duquesne University at 2:00 PM on January 27th for "Pack the House" day at Rose Hill Gym.
In addition to these games, Fordham will have home match-ups against Rhode Island (Feb. 6), Dayton (Feb. 9), and Xavier (Feb. 20), while having road games at St. Bonaventure (Jan. 23), Massachusetts (Jan. 30), Richmond (Feb. 2), La Salle (Feb. 16), and George Washington (Mar. 1).
