GOLF TIES FOR FIFTH AT HOFSTRA INVITATIONAL

Bethpage, N.Y. - The Fordham golf team compete at the Hofstra Invitational this weekend, which was hosted at the Bethpage Red Course.

Fordham played well, as the team tied for fifth overall with a score of 610 (309-301) out of 14 teams. Siena won the team title at 587, followed by Bucknell (590), Delaware (594), Hofstra (600), and Fordham and Laval (610).

Most of the drama was around Fordham's Nico Mizono at the top of the leaderboard. After a day one score of 71, Mizono shot a one-under-par 69 to finish at even par (140) for the tournament. Mizono ended up tied with Siena's Dan Abbondandolo (71-69-140), but just missed taking the individual title, falling on the first playoff hole.

Also competing for Fordham, David Newman tied for 29th overall with a score of 154 (75-79) with Trevor Seufer carding a 156, good for a tie for 36th (83-73). Tyler Flynn tied for 42nd overall with a 160 (80-80), while Charles Sterken rounded out the Rams with a 169, tying for 63rd (88-81).

The Fordham golf team will next be in action on October 19-20, as they compete in the Mt. St. Mary's Classic, hosted at the Quial Vail Golf Course in Littlestown, Pa.
