(September 5, 2006) ?C Just one week after being named Player of the Week by Big Apple Soccer.com, junior midfielder
Kevin Meyer (South Windsor, CT/East Catholic) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week for all games through September 3rd.
It has been a wild ride for Meyer and the Rams over the first two weeks of the season as the Rams have started out 3-0 for the first time since 1995. In doing so, they knocked off nationally ranked South Florida, Army, and Columbia.
Meyer, last year??s leading scorer, converted a penalty kick in the 59th minute, which gave the Rams a 2-1 advantage over USF it would never relinquish in Tampa, Fla. The victory was considered one of the biggest, if not most important victory since Fordham captured the Atlantic 10 title in 1996.
He then duplicated the feat on Sunday against Columbia, where he scored on a penalty kick with five seconds left in regulation to give the Rams a 3-2 win.
With the 3-0 start, Fordham is nationally ranked by National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Soccer America, and College Soccer News. Fordham is #12 in the NSCAA Poll, #21 in the Soccer America Poll, and #28 in College Soccer News.
The Fordham Men??s Soccer team will look to keep the streak alive at the LIU Soccer Classic on September 8th and 10th, where they will play NJIT at 5:00 PM on Friday, and UC-Irvine at 12:00 PM on Sunday.
