FORDHAM'S KATIE SANCHEZ AND BRITTANY HOGAN RECEIVE WEEKLY ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S SOCCER HONORS

(September 25, 2006) - Fordham University sophomore forward Katie Sanchez (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) and freshman forward Brittany Hogan (Smithfield, RI/Bishop Feehan) received weekly Atlantic 10 honors today, as Sanchez was named Co-Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Hogan was named Rookie of the Week. Sanchez shared the honor with Jenny Roehrig of UMass. This is the third straight week a Ram has been named A-10 Player of the Week, and is the fourth weekly honor for Sanchez in her career, while being the first for Hogan. Sanchez continued her stellar play with two goals and two assists over the weekend in wins over Manhattan and Lafayette. She scored what would be the game-winner against Manhattan, while having the game-tying goal to go with two assists against Lafayette. She has now scored in each of her last four games, while leading the team with six goals and 14 points. Hogan came up big on Sunday against Lafayette, as she assisted on the game-tying goal, and then scored the game-winning, which was the first of her career. The Fordham Women's Soccer team (6-3) will next be in action only once this week, as they open Atlantic 10 conference play at home against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, September 30th at 1:00 PM.
