(September 18, 2006) - Fordham University sophomore forward Katie Sanchez (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week, for the week ending September 17th. She shares the honor with St. Bonaventure's Kerry O'Malley. In addition to her A-10 honor, she was also named Big Apple Soccer.com's Women's Soccer Player of the Week. This is the second straight week a Ram has been named A-10 Player of the Week, as Haley Lentsch received the honor a week ago. It is also Sanchez's third career A-10 weekly honor, having been named Rookie of the Week twice last season. Sanchez had a stellar weekend, netting three goals in two games for Fordham. She opened the weekend with a goal against Hofstra on Friday night, and then led the come-from-behind charge with two goals, including the game-winner in overtime against Stony Brook on Sunday. Currently, Sanchez leads the team with four goals and eight points. The Fordham Women's Soccer team (4-3) will next be in action twice this week, as they host Manhattan College on Friday, September 22nd at 7:00 PM, while also hosting Lafayette College on Sunday, September 24th at 1:00 PM.
