FORDHAM UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES 2006-07 WOMEN??S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

(September 13, 2006) ?C Fordham University head women??s basketball coach Cathy Andruzzi released the 2006-07 Fordham University women??s basketball schedule on Wednesday and it features a 14-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule and 12 home games, as well as an appearance in the 2006 Tulane Classic. ??We put together an aggressive schedule to prepare us for the competitive environment we will face once the Atlantic 10 Conference season starts,?? said Andruzzi. Ten of Fordham??s 2006-07 opponents saw postseason action last year with four teams appearing in the NCAA Tournament: Florida State, George Washington, Marist and Temple. Six other 2006-07 opponents received bids to the NIT (Charlotte, Delaware, Mississippi, Saint Joseph??s, South Carolina and Xavier). Fordham??s Atlantic 10 schedule includes home-and-home games with La Salle as well as home dates with George Washington, Massachusetts, Richmond, Saint Joseph??s, St. Bonaventure and Temple. The Rams will also play six Atlantic 10 schools on the road in 2006-07 (Charlotte, Dayton, Duquesne, Rhode Island, Saint Louis and Xavier). The top 12 Atlantic 10 teams will advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament that will be held at Xavier University??s Cintas Center in Cincinnati from March 2-5, 2007. In non-conference play, the Rams will tune up for the regular season with an exhibition game against the New York Gazelles on Thursday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. before opening the 2006-07 regular season on Friday, November 10th as Fordham hosts American University in the Rose Hill Gym. The Rams then host the Florida State Seminoles on November 14th. Fordham will play five of its 14 non-conference games at home this winter, hosting Manhattan, Yale and George Mason along with American and Florida State. Fordham will travel to Iona, Georgetown, Marist, South Carolina, Providence, Delaware and Morgan State. The game against George Mason will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd at noon and will be the inaugural Rams School Day. Local schools are invited to attend this educational and sports day on the Rose Hill campus. The Rams will also travel to New Orleans to compete in the Tulane Doubletree Classic on December 29th and 30th. The Rams open the tournament with the host school on December 29th and they will play either Mississippi or Texas-Arlington on December 30th in the consolation or championship game. Fordham will be led into the season by first-year head coach Cathy Andruzzi, who comes to Fordham after serving as an assistant coach at Seton Hall last year. She returns last year??s leading scorer, senior Lisa Carrol, who averaged 15.0 ppg in 2005-06, seventh best in the Atlantic 10.
