(September 10, 2006) - Fordham University senior
Haley Lentsch (Woodbuy, MN/Stillwater Area) was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, for the week ending September 10th. This is Lentsch's second career A-10 award.
A preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, Lentsch was selected as the Most Valuable Player at the NYC Nike Classic this past weekend, hosted by St. John's, after collecting two game-winning goals plus an assist in two games. She had the game-winning goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Sacred Heart on Friday, and then netted the game-winner with under eight minutes left to lift Fordham past Columbia, 2-1, on Sunday.
Fordham and St. John's both finished with a 2-0 mark at the tournament, but Fordham was declared the champion based on goal differential.
Currently, Lentsch leads the team in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points.
The Fordham Women's Soccer team (3-2) will next be in action on Friday, September 15th, as they host Hofstra University at 7:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
