ELAINE PIONTKOWSKI NAMED DIRECTOR OF WOMEN??S BASKETBALL OPERATIONS AT FORDHAM UNIVERSITY

(August 7, 2006) ?C Elaine Piontkowski, who worked with the Philadelphia KiXX of the Major Indoor Soccer League for the past year, was named director of women??s basketball operations at Fordham University it was announced today by head coach Cathy Andruzzi. ??We are very pleased to have someone of Elaine??s caliber as our Director of Basketball Operations,?? said Andruzzi. ??She has a wealth of experience in the corporate, educational, professional and collegiate sports sectors. Her broad background will be an asset in handling the diverse administrative responsibilities and the day to day operations of our program.?? Piontkowski spent the last year as the Manager of Marketing and Ticket Sales for the KiXX where her responsibilities included developing and maintaining sponsor relationships and fulfilling partnership agreements as well as serving as the liaison to external box office and handling special ticket requests. Prior to her position with the KiXX, Piontkowski served as an Athletic Administration Intern at Rowan University from 2003-05 where her duties included assisting in the preparation of NCAA Championship budget, administering eligibility forms including waiver requests and game management. While at Rowan, Piontkowski also served on the Event Operations Staff for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004-05 where she was responsible for guest services, ushers, and ticket takers. She also worked with the NCAA Women??s Basketball Championship from 2004-06 as well as serving on the Founders Committee for the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2003-04. Piontkowski is no stranger to the Atlantic 10 Conference, having worked as a Special Events Coordinator for the league in 2004. She was the on-campus conference representative for all Atlantic 10 ShootOut Events that season, traveling to 12 universities over a three month period, executing a two-day event on each campus including promotions, registration, sponsor relations, venues set up and break down, photographs, public address, and student supervision. Piontkowski also assisted at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Women??s basketball Championships. A 1983 graduate of Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), Piontkowski received a Bachelor??s degree in Communications and was a member of the softball team. She went on to earn a master??s degree in Education Counseling at Millersville University in 1986, serving as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant while in graduate school. Piontkowski also attended Camden County College in 2003, earning a certificate in Sports Management.
