(August 28, 2006) ?C On the strength of last night??s season opening win over nationally ranked South Florida, the Fordham Men??s Soccer team cracked the Soccer America College Top 25 poll, entering the ranking at #23.
After being regionally ranked for most of the 2005 season, the Rams improved their schedule this season, taking on same new teams in South Florida, a BIG EAST division champion last season, as well as UC-Irvine from the Big West Conference in 2006.
Last night, the Rams started the season right, opening with a 2-1 victory at South Florida, who had been ranked ninth by Soccer America in the preseason rankings. USF dropped to #24 in this week??s poll.
Fordham's Patrick McNamee and Kevin Meyer both netted goals as the men??s soccer team posted their first win over a ranked opponent since 2003, when they toppled then 20th ranked Dayton.
The Fordham Men??s Soccer team will try to make it 2-0 on Thursday, August 31st, as they host Army for their home opener at 7:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
