(July 7, 2006) - Former Fordham University All-Atlantic 10 guard Jermaine Anderson (Toronto, Ontario/Eastern Commerce) was selected to play for his hometown Toronto Raptors Summer League Team in Las Vegas.
Anderson capped a brilliant career at Fordham by earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 2005-06, leading the Rams to a 16-16 overall record, 9-7 in the Atlantic 10. The nine conference wins were the most for Fordham since the Rams joined the Atlantic 10 conference in 1995-96 while the 16 overall wins were the most since the 1991-92 team won 18 games. The Rams advanced to the semifinals of the tournament for the first time ever, opening the championships with a 45-37 win over Richmond and then defeating La Salle, 64-62, in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals the Rams faced eventual tournament winners, Xavier, falling to the Musketeers, 79-59.
Anderson averaged 15.6 ppg, second best on the team and tenth best in the Atlantic 10 while dishing out a team-best 109 assists, 13th best in the conference. He shot 41.4% (89-215) from behind the three-point arch, fourth best in the conference, while his average of 2.78 three-pointers made/game was second best. Anderson also led the Atlantic 10 in free throw shooting, hitting 85.2% (92-108) of his charity shots.
The 89 three-pointers made by Anderson last winter was the third most in a season for a Fordham player and brought his career total to 214, tied for second on the Fordham career list.
Over his four-year career, Anderson scored 1,178 points, placing him in 17th place on the Fordham all-time scoring list.
Following his stint with the Raptors, Anderson will join the Canadian National Team for competition in Italy.
