(July 12, 2006) ?C For the second straight year, the Fordham University men??s and women??s swimming and diving squads received academic honors as both teams were named Academic All-America Teams by the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
A whopping 416 programs, representing 252 institutions earned Academic All-American honors from the CSCAA. The numbers represented a tremendous jump over last year when just over 270 programs were honored.
The Fordham women??s team recorded a 3.26 team GPA while the men notched a 3.09 average, which ranked among the top 30 in the NCAA Division I.
Leading the women??s squad was senior Katie Greiner while the men were led by John Stoneburner. Both were named to the Academic All-Atlantic 10 Team and received Athlete Academic Achievement Awards at the 2006 Block F Dinner along with teammates Lisa Hansen, Eric Jochims, Josh Jochims, Shaun Porter and Renee Thomas. Greiner was also the recipient of 2006 Kieran Award, presented annually to the Fordham College senior athlete who has made significant academic and athletic contributions.
