FORDHAM MEN??S SWIMMING ANNOUNCES 2006-07 RECRUITING CLASS

(July 10, 2006) ?C Fordham University men??s and women??s head swimming and diving coach Steve Potsklan announced his 2006-07 recruiting class today which includes eight new men. The newest additions to the men??s squad include Ryan Coombs (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), Kenneth Coombs (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), Patrick Duffy (Plainfield, NJ/St. Peter??s Prep), Lucien Monson (Salt Lake City, UT/Brighton), Benjamin Otto (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury), Eric Prendergast (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College High School) and Dan Swensen (Babylon, NY/Holy Trinity). Ryan Combs arrives at Rose Hill after swimming the past three years at Newburgh Free Academy where he served as a team captain this past season along with his brother, Kenneth. He earned All-America honors in the 200 free, 500 free and as part of the 400 free relay team at Newburgh Free Academy. He currently holds the school and Section 9 record in the 500 free (4:34.54), with the sixth fastest 500 free time in NYS Meet history. Ryan Combs also won a USA National Age Group Award in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay and was a Spring Junior National Champion in the 400Y free relay while also finishing third in the 200Y free relay and eighth in the 400M relay at the Summer Junior Nationals. He received the Most Outstanding Swimmer Award at Newburgh for the past three years and was named Section 9 Most Outstanding Swimmer in 2004-05. He also received the Most Outstanding Team Member Award at the state meet for the last three seasons. Academically, Ryan Combs is a member of the National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. Kenneth Combs arrives at Rose Hill after swimming the past three years at Newburgh Free Academy where he served as a team captain this past season along with his brother, Ryan. He was a Spring Junior National Champion in the 400Y free relay and finished third as part of the 200Y free relay and eighth in the 400M relay at the Summer Junior Nationals. An All-American, Kenneth Combs placed fifth in the state in the 500 free and second in both freestyle relays while also winning a USA National Age Group Award in the 200M free relay and the 400M relay. Academically, Kenneth Combs is a member of the National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. Duffy was a four-year letterman with the swim program at St. Peter??s Prep where he was a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Scholar. Monson, a varsity swimmer at Brighton High School, was an All-American in the 500 freestyle this past season. He helped his team win the 2006 Utah State Championship, posting a second place finish in the 200 freestyle, while placing first in the 500 freestyle. Otto, a four-year member of the swimming team at Glastonbury High School earned All-State, All-Conference and All-Academic honors over the past three year while also serving as a team captain. Pendergast was a member of both the swimming and water polo teams at LaSalle College High School, serving as a team captain for both sports as a senior. He was a PCL finalist as well as an Easterns consolation finalist. Academically, Pendergast is a member of the National Honor Society. Swensen was a four-year letter winner with the swimming squad at Holy Trinity High School where he was a Scholastic All-American and a member of the CHSAA State team in 2005 and 2006.
