Steve Potsklan announced his 2006-07 recruiting class today which includes nine new women. The newest additions to the women??s roster include
Erica Berglind (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township),
Kim Bouton (Midland Park, NJ/Northern Highlands),
Chelsea Grabarz (Hamilton, OH/Lakota West),
Katelynn Gray (Stamford, CT/Westhill),
Hilary Hebrank (Patterson, NY/Convent of the Sacred Heart),
Janine Luckie (East Setauket, NY/Ward Melville),
Catherine Lynch (Huntersville, NC/North Mecklenburg),
Nicole Marshall (Cornwall, NY/Cornwell),
Marina Montoya (Pasadena, CA/Alverno Prep) and
Caitlin Napoli (Hauppuage, NY/St. Anthony??s).
Berglind was a two-year member of the swimming squad at Jefferson Township after transferring in from Ayer High School in Ayer, Massachusetts, which she attended from 2002-04. She also competed with the track and field team for two years as well as with the cheerleading squad for three years. Berglind served as a team captain with cheerleading and was named an Academic All-Star. She also received the Coach??s Award with the track and field team and the Sportsmanship Award from the swimming team. Academically, Berglind is a member of the National Honor Society and served as Class President.
Bouton swam for the varsity team as a senior at Northern Highlands Regional High School, breaking seven school records. She helped lead the team to the county championship and to the finals of the state championships in 2006. Bouton was named First Team All-State in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM and went undefeated in 2005-06. Academically, Bouton was on the High Honor Roll for all four years of high school.
Grabarz swam for four years at Lakota West High School as well as competing with the lacrosse team for three years. She earned First Team All-Conference honors in the pool and qualified for the district and the state championships. Grabarz, who is a school record holder and a member of the 2005-06 All-Academic Team, served as a 2005-06 team captain and was named Lakota West??s Most Outstanding Swimmer. Academically, Grabarz was the class Valedictorian and is a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Scholar.
Gray was a four-year letter winner for the swimming squad at Westhill High School and was a Connecticut Swimming Top 16 selection all four years. She was a sectional qualifier in 2005 and 2006 as well as a National YMCA qualifier in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Gray, the school??s 100 butterfly record holder who swims with the Darien YMCA Piranhas Club, was the leading scorer and team MVP at Westhill in 2004 and 2005 and served as a team captain in 2005. Academically, Gray is a member of the National Honor Society and was a Connecticut Swimming Scholar Athlete in 2003-04 and 2004-05.
Hebrank swam for four years at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, serving as a team captain this past winter. She received the Coach??s Award in both the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.
Luckie was a five-year letter winner for the swimming team at Ward Melville High School where she earned All-League honors in the 100 backstroke and as a member of the 200 medley relay team in both her junior and senior years. She served as a team captain her senior year and led the team to its 14th consecutive Suffolk County championship. Luckie received the Coach??s Award in as a freshman, sophomore and junior at Ward Melville.
Lynch arrives at Rose Hill after spending the past four years as a member of the North Mecklenburg swimming and diving squad where she was named Most Improved Diver as a sophomore and received the Team Sportsmanship Award as a junior. She also competed with the soccer and track and field teams in high school.
Marshall swam with the team at Cornwall High School for five years, earning MVP honors three times as well as serving as a team captain. She was a member of a relay team that finished third at the state championships and also received All-American consideration in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Montoya swam freelance at Alverno Prep School for Girls where she was a CIF finalist from 2002-06 while setting school records and serving as a team captain. She also competed with the Swim Pasadena, California Aquatics and Rose Bowl Aquatics Clubs.
Napoli was a four-year member of the swimming program at St. Anthony??s High School where she was the team MVP all four years and earned All-American honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society.
