FORDHAM'S MAUREEN ZIVIC WRAPS UP STELLAR CAREER AT NCAA REGIONALS

(May 27, 2006) - Fordham senior Maureen Zivic wrapped up her stellar track career this week as she competed at the 2006 NCAA Regionals hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC. In preparation for the NCAA's, Zivic, the Women's Outdoor Track & Field MVP this season, got her tune up at St. John's final meet on Monday, where she took first in the women's 400 meter dash in a time of 56.66 seconds, while fellow teammate Kristina Knapp took third in the event (58.36), helping Zivic prep for her run at the NCAA's. In the 800 meters at the NCAA Regional, there were five heats with the five winners and the next three best times advancing to the final. Zivic placed third in her heat in 2:09.79, which was good for 15th overall. Despite not advancing to the final, Zivic time was the second-best posted by a Fordham female in the 800 meters, with only Lauren Gubicza's school record time of 2:07.1 in 1992 being better.
