(March 4, 2006) ?C Select members of the Fordham Indoor Track & Field teams competed at the 2006 ECAC/IC4A Championships, held at Boston University.
After day one, the Fordham women were seventh overall with 10 points, while the Fordham men did not score on the first day.
Fordham??s 10 points are accredited to junior Kerstin Greene, who won the pentathlon event with a final score of 3,798 points, just 20 points off her own school record. Additionally, her score at the ECAC Championship has provisionally qualified her for the Indoor NCAA Championship at the University of Arkansas.
Senior Maureen Zivic led the rest of the Fordham contingent, as she finished 11th overall in the 800 meters in 2:12.36, while freshman Jackie Prevete was 18th in the 5000 meters in 17:36.37.
In the women??s relays, the 4x800 relay, comprised of Kathleen Reilly, Stephanie Luther, Lauren Dike, and Melissa Salerno, finished 14th in 9:32.61, while the 4x400 relay, made up of Diana Nordquist, Zivic, Kristina Knapp, and Danica Dupuy, was 22nd overall in 3:55.09.
On the men??s side, junior Dan Tucker is poised to score at the IC4A Championship in the heptathlon. Through the first four events of the competition, Tucker is fourth with 2,741 points, just 221 behind Rutgers Adam Golembeski for first place. So far, Tucker ran 6.73 seconds in the 55 meters, cleared 6?? ??? in the high jump, jumped 21?? 2 ??? in the long jump, and placed a throw of 37?? 4?? in the shot put.
Freshman Matt DiBuono was the only other individual competitor on Saturday, but unfortunately fouled out of the competition.
In the men??s relay, the 4x800 relay team, comprised of Clifton Hilario, Matt Lowenthal, John Martins, and Steve D??Ambrosio, finished 16th in 7:43.77, while the distance medley relay team, made up of Tom Finnerty, Michael Kearney, Nicholas Kroll, and Chris McCutchan, placed 17th in 10:15.82.
On day two, Fordham wrapped up competition as the Fordham Women were 22nd of 50 teams that scored, while the Fordham Men tied for 40th out of 51 teams that scored.
On the men's side, Fordham scored in the heptathlon, as junior Dan Tucker finished fifth overall with a school record point total of 4,835 points.
Also competing for the men in today's events, junior Aaron DeGraffe placed 16th overall in the triple jump with a mark of 45' 9", while the 4x400 relay team, comprised of Tucker, Mike Kirwan, Brandon Ryan, and Matt Spaccarelli, finished 15th overall in a time of 3:18.16.
On the women's side, junior Kerstin Greene scored in the triple jump event, taking fifth with a mark of 38' 9 3/4". Sophomore Ariana Washington was the only other competitor for Fordham, as she placed 17th in the weight throw competition with a toss of 51' 1/4".
