FORDHAM??S BRYANT DUNSTON NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 ALL-CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM

(March 13, 2006) ?C Fordham University sophomore forward Bryant Dunston (Queens, NY/St. John's Prep) was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team it was announced following the tournament on Saturday night. Dunston is joined on the All-Championship team by Xavier??s Justin Cage and Josh Duncan, Saint Joseph??s Chet Stachitas, and Mardy Collins of Temple. Fordham advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championships for the first time since joining the conference in 1995-96 by defeating Richmond in the first round (45-37) and La Salle (64-62) in the quarterfinals. Fordham fell to eventual conference champions, Xavier, in the semifinals, 70-59. Dunston, a 2006 First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, finished the year averaging a team-high 16.1 ppg, fifth best in the conference, while also averaging a team-high 7.6 rpg in 2005-06, fourth best in the A-10. He led the team with 75 blocks on the year and shot 53.5% (174-325) from the field and 48.7% (19-39) from behind the three-point arch, leading the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage and ranking second in blocks/game. On the year, Dunston recorded nine double-doubles, the last coming in the quarterfinal win over La Salle with 19 points and ten rebounds. Dunston, who also received 2006 Second Team All-District honors from the NABC, was named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team in November after averaging 18.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg in the three-game tournament. He started all 32 games for the Rams at forward in 2005-06 and has started every game since arriving at Fordham (61 games). Over his two-year career, Dunston has scored 946 career points, placing him in 37th place on the Fordham all-time scoring list, while he has also blocked 142 career shots, good for third place on the school??s career list. The Rams closed out the year with a 16-16 overall record, 9-7 in the Atlantic 10. The nine wins are the most conference wins turned by a Fordham team since the Rams made the move to the Atlantic 10 in 1995-96 while the 16 overall wins are the most for the Rams since the 1991-92 squad finished 18-13.
