FORDHAM??S DOINA SANDOR NAMED ATLANTIC 10 ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE FOR WOMEN??S TENNIS

(May 3, 2006) ?C Fordham University student-athlete Doina Sandor (Bucharest, Romania/Colegiul National Tudor Vianu) was recognized for her athletic and academic accomplishments by being named to the 2006 Atlantic 10 Women??s Tennis Academic All-Conference teams. Of the 22 sports sponsored by the Atlantic 10, nine are spring sports: baseball, softball, men??s and women??s outdoor track and field, men??s tennis, women??s tennis, women??s lacrosse, women??s rowing and golf. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.00 and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team. Voting is conducted by the Atlantic 10 Conference??s sports information directors. The number of players selected to a team reflects the standard-sized team in that sport. Sandor, an International Political Economy major, went 2-0, with one uncompleted match, at the recently completed 2006 Atlantic 10 Championships where the Rams finished ninth. On the year, Sandor compiled a 10-2 record at fourth singles, 7-1 in the spring. She has the second highest GPA of any student-athlete at Fordham. For her career, Sandor has a 30-13 record in singles play, including a 15-8 singles mark in 2004-05, leading the team with the 15 wins.
