Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) all received Atlantic 10 Softball weekly award it was announced today. Busciacco received her first career Player of the Week award, while Capardi received her first career Rookie award. This is Kinney's third Pitcher of the Week award this season and sixth of her career.
Busciacco batted .538 (7-for-13) with a 1.154 slugging percentage in a 4-0 week for Fordham, as she had at least two RBI in each of the four games. She started the week by getting the game-winning hit in both wins over St. Peter's on Tuesday. She then had a home run and two RBI in each win over Saint Joseph's on Friday. With the eight RBI this week, she topped the 30-RBI mark for the first time in her career, and is tied for the team lead in home runs with nine.
Kinney went 4-0 on the week with a 0.45 ERA in 15.2 innings of work, posting 18 strikeouts. She threw her fourth shutout of the season on Friday at Saint Joseph's, allowing five hits and striking out seven, and then came back in game two to throw 3 1/3 innings of relief to pick up her fourth win of the week. On Tuesday, Kinney record both victories over St. Peter's in relief, throwing a combined 7 1/3 innings of scoreless play, allowing just four hits with nine strikeouts.
Capardi batted .600 (9-for-15) on the week with a .733 slugging percentage. She posted at least two hits in all four games this week, including a 3-for-5 performance with three runs scored in game two against Saint Joseph's. Overall, she went a combined 5-for-8 with four runs and three RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Saint Joseph's. Capardi improved her batting average to .371 on the year, tied with Krystle Henry for the team lead, and became the ninth Ram this season to have at least 10 RBI.
The Fordham Softball team is currently 30-18 overall, 9-3 in the Atlantic 10, and will have three home doubleheaders this week, as they host Columbia on April 27th at 5:00 PM, Manhattan on April 28th at 5:00 PM, and Charlotte on April 30th at 11:00 AM.
