FORDHAM??S BRYANT DUNSTON & JERMAINE ANDERSON NAMED ALL-ATLANTIC 10

(March 6, 2006) - Fordham University sophomore forward Bryant Dunston (Queens, NY/St. John??s Prep) and senior guard Jermaine Anderson (Toronto, Ontario/Eastern Commerce) were named to the Atlantic 10 Men??s Basketball All-Conference Team it was announced today. Dunston was named First Team All-Conference while Anderson was named to the second team. Additionally, senior guard Nick Vita (San Anselmo, CA/Marin Catholic) was named to Academic All-Atlantic 10. The Rams finished the regular season with a 14-15 overall record, 9-7 in the Atlantic 10. The 9-7 conference records is Fordham??s best in the Atlantic 10, surpassing last year??s 8-8 mark, and gives the Rams the six-seed in the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championships to be held from March 8-11 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Rams will face the University of Richmond, the eleventh seed, on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. Dunston, who was named Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 this year, is second on the team with a 16.1 ppg average, eighth best in the conference, and he leads the squad with a 7.4 rpg average, fourth best in the league. He also leads the Rams with 72 blocks on the year, the second best total in the Atlantic 10, and is shooting 53.6% (158-295) from the field, the second best in the conference this year. Dunston has notched eight double-doubles on the year, matching last year??s total, while his 72 blocks are the third best single-season total in Fordham history. He has now recorded 139 career blocks, placing him third on Fordham??s all-time blocks list. Anderson is averaging a team-high 16.1 ppg, seventh best in the Atlantic 10 while dishing out a team-best 101 assists. He is shooting 41.8% (81-194) from behind the three-point arch, fifth best in the conference, while his average of 2.79 three-pointers made/game is the second best. Anderson also leads the Atlantic 10 in free throw shooting, hitting 86.5% (90-104) of his charity shots. The 81 three-pointers made by Anderson this year is the third most in a season for a Fordham player and brings his career total to 206, good for third place on the Fordham career list. Over his four-year career, Anderson has scored 1,146 points, placing him in 18th place on the Fordham all-time scoring list. Vita, a senior business administration major, earns Academic All-Conference honors after compiling a 3.11 GPA over his two-year career at Fordham. A walk-on who has appeared in all 27 games, starting eight, Vita is averaging 2.3 ppg and 2.9 rpg. The highlight of his season was hitting a jumper with three seconds left to lift the Rams to a 62-60 win at Virginia on December 7th.
