(March 27, 2006) - Fordham University senior outfielder Katie Davis (Hanover, PA/South Western) and junior pitcher Sara Kinney (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) received weekly Atlantic 10 honors, as Davis was named Co-Player of the Week, while Kinney was named Pitcher of the Week. This is the sixth Player of the Week award for Davis, while being the fifth time in her career that Kinney has been named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. Davis, last year's Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, hit an impressive .571 over four games this week, collecting eight hits, three doubles, and seven RBI. She had three multi-hit games and finished with a .600 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. Davis did most of her damage on Sunday in a sweep of Dayton, as she went 5-for-9 with two doubles, a home run, and six RBI. Kinney, who receives Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season, had an outstanding week in the circle, going 3-0 and picking up both A-10 wins versus Dayton on Sunday. Overall, she struck out 14 batters compared to two walks, while holding opponents to a .180 batting average. Kinney started the week with a two-hit shutout over Binghamton on Friday, striking out six. She then combined for a shutout of Dayton in game one of a doubleheader, throwing the first four innings and striking out five, while coming in relief in game two, pitching the final five innings for her third win of the week. The Fordham Softball team is currently 14-13 overall, 2-0 in the Atlantic 10, and will next be in action on Tuesday, March 28th, as they play at Wagner, beginning at 2:30 PM. The Rams will then host a pair of Atlantic 10 doubleheaders over the weekend, as they host Rhode Island on March 31st at 3:00 PM and Massachusetts on April 2nd at 12:00 PM.
