FORDHAM??S DONNIE CALLARA EARNS ATLANTIC 10 SWIMMING AND DIVING PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

(February 6, 2006) - Fordham University sophomore Donnie Callara (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors as he was named Men??s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, for the week ending Febraury 5th. This is Callara's first Performer of the Week award, after earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week six times last season. Callara won both diving competition against St. Francis College on February 1st, as Fordham won 165-59. In the one-meter competition, he established a school record with a score of 349.20, breaking the old mark of 344.70, set by Paul Delo in 1996. He also took the three-meter competition with a season-best score of 328.28. The Fordham Swimming & Diving team will next be in action on Saturday, February 11th, as they compete at the Rutgers Invitational. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
