(Febraury 27, 2006) - Fordham University junior Javier Martinez (South Orange, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) earned his first career Atlantic 10 weekly honor, as Martinez was named Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week. He shares the honor with George Washington's Josh Wilkie. In his lone start of the week, Martinez picked up his first win of the season on Friday against New Orleans. He allowed just one run over seven innings, registering eight strikeouts, while walking just two. On the year, Martinez is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 12 strikeouts. Martinez and the Fordham Baseball team (2-4) now begin a five-game homestand, starting on Friday, March 3rd, as they begin a three-game series against Fairfield at newly renovated Houlihan Park at Jack Coffey Field.
