(December 7, 2006) ?C Fordham softball coach Bridget Orchard announced the 2007 schedule today, as the Rams begin their 23rd season of collegiate softball this spring. Among the highlights of the schedule, the Rams will participate in four tournaments hosted by Florida, East Carolina, South Florida, and San Diego State. The Rams begin their 2007 season in Gainesville, FL, where they will compete in Florida??s Cox Communications Classic, February 16-18. In that tournament, Fordham is scheduled to play N.C. State, Florida, Marshall, and Chattanooga. After a weekend away from the field, the Rams continue their tournament slate on March 2-4 at East Carolina??s Holiday Inn Express Pirate Clash in Greenville, NC. In this tournament, Fordham has drawn games against Vermont, James Madison, Binghamton, and Delaware over the first two days of competition. Following that trip, Fordham will head back to Florida to once again play in the USF/adidas Invitational, held March 8-11 in Clearwater, FL. In Fordham??s round robin play, the Rams will match-up with Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Robert Morris, Central Michigan, and Hofstra, and then move into bracket play. The Rams will then head west to California for the first time in team history. The Rams have a doubleheader scheduled against UNLV on March 13, which will be played at Cal. St. Northridge, and then games at the San Diego State Aztec Classic from March 16-18. So far, Fordham will play against Utah, San Diego St., Miami (OH), Fairfield, and Iona in that tournament. Fordham then returns home for four straight home dates, including the Atlantic 10 opener against George Washington on March 23rd. Fordham has 11 home dates scheduled, which includes five Atlantic 10 opponents, George Washington, La Salle, Temple, Saint Joseph??s, and Dayton. The Rams have Atlantic 10 road contests at Charlotte, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, this season. The Rams will look for their fifth straight Atlantic 10 tournament appearance, as the Atlantic 10 Championship returns to the UMass Softball Complex in Amherst, MA, this season, May 9-12.
