Rams School Day is part of the Fordham Hoops Campaign created by Coach Cathy Andruzzi to promote and brand Fordham women??s basketball to the greater community. This program is designated to introduce school children to the college sports experience!
??As coaches and students-athletes, we have an opportunity to touch the lives of future student-athletes by encouraging them to think about their future, to take their academics seriously and aspire to them to compete at the collegiate level,?? said Fordham head coach Cathy Andruzzi.
Rams School Day is the third of seven events for the Fordham Hoops Campaign, following the Faculty and Staff Reception prior to the Yale Game and the Fordham women??s basketball Christmas toy drive, which benefited the Bronx Chapter of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club.
Future Fordham Hoops Campaign events that are still ahead include National Women & Girls in Sports Day on January 26th, Alumni Day on January 28th, Pack the House/CYO Day on February 17th for the nationally televised game on CSTV, and Senior Day/Fan Appreciation Day on February 25th.
For Rams School Day, the Fordham women??s basketball team will face off against George Mason University in the team??s final non-conference home game before starting Atlantic 10 play on January 9th. It will be the third all-time meeting between the Rams and the Patriots, with each having won a game. They last met in December 2003, where the Rams defeated the Patriots, 66-60, at the Rose Hill Gym.
