(December 12, 2006) ?C The top regional performers for 2006 women's college soccer were announced by Soccer Buzz on December 12th, as the online magazine presented annual postseason honors for the eleventh time. Forty-one schools comprising the Northeast Region were eligible. Buzz awards were based on a nomination process open to all Division I coaches and balloting results of a voting panel of selected Division I Head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff.

Leah Jerome (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) and sophomore
Katie Sanchez (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) were named Third Team All-Northeast Region.
Jerome, a two-year team captain and three-year starter who started all 19 games for the Rams this year, set career highs with eleven goals and five assists for 27 points in 2006, ranking second on the team in all three categories. She also ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10 conference in goals and fifth in goals/game, points and points/game.
For her exploits, Jerome was named First Team All-Conference in 2006, becoming the fourth Fordham women??s soccer player to garner First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors. In addition to her soccer honors, she was selected to the Academic All-American Third Team, as well as First Team Academic All-District I and Academic All-Atlantic 10
Over her career, Jerome scored 22 goals and added 11 assists for 55 career points in 77 career games, breaking Beth Kitson??s (1999-2002) school mark for most games played in a career (75). She graduates in third place on the Fordham all-time career scoring list while ranking fourth on the all-time goals list and tying for fifth in career assists.
Sanchez, a 2006 Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, led the team in scoring with 12 goals and six assists for 30 points. She ended the season second in the conference in scoring and third in goals.
Her 30 points were just one shy of the Fordham single season mark of 31 set by Kirstin Gellatly in 2001, while her 12 goals were the third highest single season mark at Fordham.
In just two seasons with the Rams, Sanchez already ranks fifth in career goals (18), tied for ninth in career assists (10), and sixth in career points (46).
The Rams finished the year with a 14-7 overall record, 6-3 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham, which set a team record with the 14 overall wins, qualified for the A-10 Championship for the first time since 2003. Entering the championship as the fifth seed, the Rams defeated La Salle, 3-1, in the first round and then knocked off top-seeded Charlotte, 2-1, before falling to Saint Louis in the championship game.
