FORDHAM'S LISA CARROL NAMED ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

(December 11, 2006) - Fordham senior guard Lisa Carrol (Stockholm, Sweden/Tibble Gymnasium) was named Atlantic 10 Women??s Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the week ending December 10th. This is Carrol's second career Atlantic 10 weekly award, having won the honor once last season. This week, she shared the honor with Temple's Kamesha Hairston. In addition to the Atlantic 10 accolade, she was also named to the PrestoSports/Metropolitan Basketball Writer's Association's weekly women's basketball honor roll. Carrol, a preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, had two outstanding performances this week against Yale and Providence. She started the week by netting the second most points in a game by a Ram with 39 in a win over Yale on Thursday. In that game, she went 10-of-18 from the field and 17-of-19 from the free throw line, and added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals against the Bulldogs. She followed that game by scoring a game-high 22 points to go with five rebounds and four assists at Providence on Sunday. For the week, Carrol ended up averaging 30.5 points, four rebounds, and three assists in two games and shot .889 from the charity stripe (24-27). For the season, she currently leads the team in scoring at 20.2 points per game, good for third in the Atlantic 10, while shooting .481 from three-point range (13-27) and .792 from the free throw line (38-48). Carrol and the Fordham Women??s Basketball team will next be in action on Friday, December 22nd, as they play at the University of Delaware, beginning at 7:00 PM.
