FORDHAM??S LEAH JEROME NAMED ESPN THE MAGAZINE FIRST TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

(November 3, 2006) ?C Fordham University senior midfielder/forward Leah Jerome (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) was named First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District in a voting among the district??s Sports Information Directors it was announced today. She will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-American? consideration. Jerome, a two-year team captain and three-year starter who has started all 19 games for the Rams this year, has ten goals and five assists for 25 points in 2006, ranking second on the team in all three categories. She is also ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10 conference in goals, goals/game, points and points/game and was named First Team All-Conference this year. Over her career, Jerome has 21 goals and 11 assists for 53 career points in 75 career games, tying Beth Kitson??s (1999-2002) school mark for most games played in a career. She sits in third place on the Fordham all-time career scoring list while ranking fourth on the all-time goals list and is tied for fifth in career assists . Academically, the American Studies major has a 3.91 GPA, one of the highest GPAs among Fordham University student-athletes. She has been named Second Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District and to the Academic All-Atlantic 10 the past two seasons. The Rams are currently 13-6 overall, after defeating La Salle, 3-1, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championships in St. Louis last night. Fordham, who finished the regular season with a 7-3 conference mark ?C good for fifth place, will take on top-seeded Charlotte tonight in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals in St. Louis at 6:00 p.m. (EST).
