FOUR FORDHAM VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS RECEIVE ALL-ATLANTIC 10 HONORS

(November 15, 2006) ?C The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the 2006 Volleyball All-Conference teams and award winners this afternoon, with the Rams being well represented among the Atlantic 10's best. Highlighting the awards, the Rams had four players receive awards, as seniors Tasha Johnston (Hesperia, CA). and Marija Markovic (Pljevlja, Montenegro) were selected Second Team All-Atlantic 10, while seniors Jamee Stimson (Milford, NH) and Kealia Ieremia (Sandy, UT) were named Honorable Mention by the conference. Johnston, a two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, set career-highs with 485 kills, a .252 hitting percentage, and a 3.82 kills per game average. Her kills total is the second highest by a Ram in team history, while her kill per game average is the highest ever at Fordham. This season, she also became the Rams' career leader in games (447) and matches (127) played, as well as the second Ram to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs for her career. Markovic, a First Team selection last season, once again ranked among the Atlantic 10 leaders in blocks, averaging 1.21 per game to go with a 2.91 kills per game average and a .270 hitting percentage. Her block average is second only to her 1.45 average from last season in the Fordham record book. Stimson, an honorable mention selection in 2005 and a First Team selection in 2004, is the first Fordham Ram to receive All-Atlantic 10 honors three times. She set career-highs this season with 402 kills, 51 service aces, and 92 total blocks. She also moved into third place in career kills at Fordham with 1,158 and service aces with 143. Ieremia, who also received honorable mention honors in 2005, ranked fifth in the conference in assists with an 11.31 average, while dishing out a career-high 1,289 assists. She also set a personal best with 158 kills this season, while moving into second place on Fordham's all-time assists list with 3,571. The Rams, seeded sixth at this week's Atlantic 10 Championship, begin play on Friday, November 17th, as they will meet third seeded Saint Louis at 5:00 PM in Dayton, OH.
