(October 9, 2006) ?C Fordham University freshman quarterback John Skelton (El Paso, TX/Burges) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for games of October 7th it was announced today. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Skelton. Last Saturday, the Rams dropped a 20-17 decision to Duquesne University on Jack Coffey Field. In the game, Skelton came off the bench to complete 11 of 21 passes for 160 yards and one touchdown while he also gained 77 yards on nine carries, netting 47 yards. He completed ten of 16 passes for 151 yards in the second half, including a 26-yard scoring pass to Richard Rayborn in the fourth quarter that gave the Rams a 10-3 lead. On the year, Skelton has completed 15 of 36 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown in three games while also rushing for 67 yards on 13 carries (5.2 yards/rush). The Rams (1-4, 0-1 Patriot League) will next host the Marist College Red Foxes on Jack Coffey Field this Saturday, October 14th at 1:00 p.m. as part of Homecoming 2006 festivites.
