Leah Jerome (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) captured the final Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week award, prior to the start of the Atlantic 10 Tournament this week, it was announced today by the conference. This is Jerome's second Player of the Week award this season, and it also marks the sixth time this season that a Fordham women's soccer player was player of the week in the conference.
Jerome, who posted career highs in every offensive category this season, came through in the clutch this weekend, as she led Fordham to two victories and a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament this week in Saint Louis, Missouri. On Friday, she netted a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win over Temple, and then scored the game-winning goal with 34 seconds left on Sunday to beat Saint Joseph's, 2-1.
Thus far this season, Jerome is second on the team in goals (10), assists (5) and points (25).
The Fordham Women's Soccer team, who set a new team record for wins with a 12-6 record, will be seeded fifth and will meet fourth-seeded La Salle in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship, held at Saint Louis University??s Hermann Stadium. The game will take place on Thursday, November 2nd, with the approximate game time set for 8:30 PM Eastern. The Fordham-La Salle game will follow the Dayton-Rhode Island opening round match-up. Both Charlotte and Saint Louis will receive opening round byes.
