(October 3, 2006) ?C With a scoreless tie at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, the 2006 Fordham University men??s soccer team remains unbeaten and is off to the best start in school history as the Rams improved to 6-0-3, and continue to be ranked in a pair of polls.
The Rams remained in the 12th spot in the latest NSCAA Coaches?? Poll while dropping to 25th in the Soccer America College Top 25 poll. Fordham is also receiving votes in the latest College Soccer News Top 30 poll. The Rams also remain as the number one ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Ranking by the NSCAA.
In the St. Bonaventure tie, the Rams out shot the Bonnies 15-8 but couldn??t find the back of the net as Fordham played down a man for the final 29 minutes and down two men for the last 13 minutes due to red card violations.
In net, Fordham??s Doug Devereaux made two saves to record his fourth shutout on the year.
The Fordham men??s soccer team will have its biggest test to date this weekend, as they hit the road for two crucial Atlantic 10 contests. On Friday, the Rams will play at Duquesne University at 7:00 PM. The Dukes are 5-4-1 on the season, and were picked third in the preseason Atlantic 10 coaches?? poll.
On Sunday, Fordham will meet the defending A-10 Champion, Saint Louis University, for a 2:00 PM (E.S.T.) match. Saint Louis, who is ranked second in the region and 22nd overall in the latest NSCAA polls, is 5-3-1 overall, and has already faced five ranked teams this season, and was picked first in the preseason Atlantic 10 coaches?? poll
