FORDHAM'S LEAH JEROME NAMED ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S SOCCER CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

(October 2, 2006) - Fordham University senior forward Leah Jerome (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the week ending October 1st. Jerome shared the honor with Rachel Mees of Charlotte. This is the fourth straight week a Ram has been named A-10 Player of the Week, and is the first career weekly honor for Jerome. Jerome, a two-year co-captain, had an outstanding performance in her lone game of the week on Saturday against St. Bonaventure, helping Fordham to their best start through ten games in the team's 14-year history. She netted three goals for her first career hat trick, while setting a new career-high with six goals on the season. With the three goals, she moved into a tie for fourth on Fordham's career goals list at 17 with Beth Purcell (2001-04). Thus far this season, Jerome is second on the team in goals (6) and points (12). The Fordham Women's Soccer team (7-3, 1-0 Atlantic 10) will next be in action this weekend, as they host Duquesne University on Friday, October 6th at 7:00 PM and Saint Louis University on Sunday, October 8th at 1:00 PM.
