(October 17, 2006) ?C The Fordham Women??s Soccer team held their ground in the Soccer Buzz.com Regional Poll at #12 for the week ending October 15th. The Rams also entered the NSCAA Northeast Regional Rankings at #9 this week. On the strength of two road wins, Fordham (10-4, 4-1 A-10) is ranked in both regional polls for the first time ever, as they came away with a 2-1 victory over George Washington and a 2-1 overtime win over La Salle. Fordham was led by sophomore Katie Sanchez, who recorded three goals over weekend. For her efforts, she garnered Atlantic 10 and BigAppleSoccer.com Player of the Week honors. On Friday, she knotted the George Washington game at one, before Liane Schoenstein netted the game-winner just prior to halftime, while on Sunday, she netted both goals in an overtime win at La Salle. Sanchez now leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring with 10 goals and 23 points, and is just the fifth Ram to have 10 goals in a season. The Fordham Women??s Soccer team will be in action twice this weekend, as they host Charlotte on Friday, October 20th at 7:00 PM, and Richmond at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 22nd.
