(January 9, 2006) - Fordham freshman Matt DiBuono (New Rochelle, NY/Iona Prep) was selected as Atlantic 10 Men??s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week, for the week ending January 8th. This is DiBuono??s first Atlantic 10 weekly award. DiBuono had his third straight solid performance in the throwing events this past weekend at the Fordham Kick-Off Classic, helping the Fordham men??s team to a sixth place finish out of 14 teams. He set season-bests in both the weight throw and shot put event, while also being team-best mark this season. In the weight throw, DiBuono took second with a mark of 54?? 10 1/4??, while placing 10th in the shot put with a throw of 43?? 8 1/2??. The Fordham Track and Field team will be in action twice this weekend as they compete at the NYU Invitational on Friday, January 13th at the 168th St. Armory, and then at the Yale Invitational on Saturday, January 14th. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
