(January 23, 2006) - Fordham freshman Ashley Ukleja (West Haven, CT/Sacred Heart) was selected as Atlantic 10 Women??s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week, for the week ending January 22nd. This is Ukleja??s first career Atlantic 10 weekly award. In her first collegiate meet after sitting out the first semester due to injury, Ukleja won the 500 and 1000 freestyle events in Fordham??s 150-84 win over La Salle on Saturday. She clocked in at 5:07.85 in the 500 and 10:24.63 in the 1000, which were both the fastest by a Fordham swimmer this season. The Fordham Swimming & Diving teams will be in action this weekend as they will travel up to Amherst, MA to meet the University of Massachusetts on January 28th, beginning at 1:00 PM. Founded in 1841, Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University. With 22 men's and women's varsity sports teams, the Fordham Rams are members of the NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track, women's rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball and in the Patriot League (NCAA I-AA) for football.
