FORDHAM'S LISA CARROL NAMED ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

(January 21, 2006) ?C The Atlantic 10 announced today that Fordham??s Lisa Carrol (Stockholm, Sweden/Tibble Gymansium) was named Atlantic 10 Women??s Basketball Co-Player of the Week, along with Dayton??s Cara Wright. This is Carrol??s first Atlantic 10 weekly honor, and the first Player of the Week award for the Rams since Beth Ann Dickinson garnered the honor in December 2003. She is also the second Ram to receive an Atlantic 10 weekly award this season, as Daniela Roark was named Rookie of the Week back in November. Carrol averaged 16.5 points and five assists in two contests this past week, shooting 58.8% (10-17) from the field and 83.3% (5-6) from three-point range. She led Fordham in scoring in both games this week, as she started the week with a game-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go with four assists against Saint Joseph??s. Then, at St. Bonaventure on Friday night, Carrol scored a game-high 18 points to go with six assists and two steals, as the Rams completed a season sweep of the Bonnies. Carrol leads the Rams in scoring (15.2 ppg), assists (50), free throw shooting (.833), and three-point shooting (.448). In the conference, she ranks second in scoring in Atlantic 10 games at 16.4 points a game, while having the top field goal percentage in conference play at 59.2%. The Fordham Women??s Basketball team returns to action on Sunday, January 22nd, as they continue a three-game road trip at the University of Richmond, beginning at noon.
